Characteristics

  • Inquirers are individuals who need a lot of information before making a decision, and usually like to take a little time to analyse the information before deciding.
  • They are most comfortable when they feel that they have enough information to make a decision.
  • They like exploring the different angles of a decision, and usually try to play out scenarios in their mind of how the decision could turn out.
  • They also like to consult other people they consider to be trustworthy and knowledgeable on a decision.
  • To them, consulting others is a great way not only to gain different perspectives, but also to arrive at a decision quicker.

Beliefs

  • They believe that there is a fine balance between having information and making a decision quickly.
  • They believe that whilst it’s important to be decisive with the data available to them, it is also important not to make decisions too hurriedly.

Fears

They can sometimes be conflicted between their very high need for information and their desire to make decisions quickly.

Justification statement

“Everyone should try to get as much information as they can before making a decision, but it’s equally important to be decisive in the end.”

Strategy for growth

Inquirers have a strong desire to be decisive, but can sometimes be held back by a constant balancing act. They need to learn that some decisions don’t need a lot of analysis – they just need immediate action.

All human beings have traits of all the decision types, but we all have a dominant type which we use and rely upon more than the others.
