Characteristics
- Examiners are those who need both a lot of information and a lot of time to make decisions.
- They are usually extremely detail-oriented people who are excellent at scrutinising information, whilst applying logical thinking every step of the way.
- They are most comfortable when they have what they feel is enough time to consult and analyse the information available to them.
- These individuals usually hate being rushed into a decision, as they tend to be very risk-averse.
- To them, decision-making is risky enough, and rushing to make a decision only increases the risk of making the wrong decision.
Beliefs
- For them, decisions must always follow some form of logic, as anything else would just be unacceptable.
- They believe that most people tend to be irrational when it comes to decision-making, and that this is why most people end up making the wrong decisions.
Fears
- They do not like being rushed into a decision, as they are afraid of overlooking any important information which could prove critical to the success of their decisions.
- They have a strong dislike for the feeling of regret that comes with wrong decisions, especially when the decision cannot be reversed.
Justification statement
“The world is in the state it is today because people don’t think enough about the wider consequences of their decisions.”
Strategy for growth
Examiners can get lost in the details if they are not careful. They need to develop better skills at sifting information, so that whatever information they use to support their decisions gives them the confidence to make quicker decisions.
All human beings have traits of all the decision types, but we all have a dominant type which we use and rely upon more than the others.
