Characteristics
- The Collaborator makes decisions intuitively, but prefers to sit back from a decision for as long as possible.
- If they ever feel the need to get information to support their decision, they will most likely reach out to people they trust.
- Reaching out to trusted people is a way of getting validation for the decisions they are considering, and once they have it, they tend not to waste much time making the decision.
- This can sometimes be a subconscious strategy to lessen the impact or guilt of a wrong decision, since they made the effort to consult other people on it.
- Even if most of their intuitive decisions turn out to be successful, the Collaborator can sometimes still doubt their own intuition.
- If they experience a season where they achieve a series of successful decisions, they can grow in confidence and may even start making decisions moderately faster.
- However, this only tends to last for as long as they are “winning”, because the next wrong decision tends to take them back to their default mode of slower decisions.
Beliefs
They believe that intuitive decision-making is at its most powerful when there is validation from other people.
Fears
- They usually have a fear of coming across as impulsive to other people.
- Even though they might already have made a decision within themselves as early as possible, they prefer to wait before announcing it or taking their final action.
Justification statement
“Be intuitive, but always remember that nobody is an island.”
Strategy for growth
Collaborators will achieve a lot of growth if they believe in themselves and in their intuition more. They need to celebrate their wins more, and allow the confidence from such successful decisions to become part of them. Confidence builds self-trust, and self-trust builds intuitiveness.
All human beings have traits of all the decision types, but we all have a dominant type which we use and rely upon more than the others.
